Note: That earring is NOT real.

Circa 8th grade I was pretty into film and production. After many short films I landed a job with Keller Williams Realty in Milford doing their promos for houses. Since this job pretty much sucked, I quit and went back to being abused by the Best Buy computers department. After that, I have done quite a few odd jobs relating to film and when Rob over at Seocracy and I were talking one time screencasting was brought up.

Combining my knowledge of computers and film, a new genre of awesome was born. I decided that this awesomeness should be shared with the world, and to prove that, I am going to be making more screencasts of money making techniques and will be putting myself up for hire in doing high-definition screencasts. Contact me for pricing and more information when your ready to get a screencast done for you. Below is my latest work featuring Datapresser.

Bonus: Check out my 8th grade film skills and lack of mountain boarding skills, in my short film “Freak Out”

The issue is that I always have a few tabs ALWAYS open in my firefox. Gmail, thesixtyone, my RSS reader, and some other online apps would always be open. Fluid solves this problem by splitting these frequently used apps into their own browser windows. It really turns a website into its own widget. So since I have been working so much with DataPresser lately I decided to turn it into it’s own application.

Since sharing is caring, if you have a Mac and DataPresser, download it.

Since I got back in San Antonio it has been really hard to concentrate on the blog, thus leading to me dropping the ball last week. I have been working 40 hour weeks and trying not to kill my roommates in my off-time. I have 1 really good post coming up, and 2 sweet money-makers in the works. Enough about my laziness, here’s my time waster for the week.

Kombucha

Since I can remember, I have always been a big do-it-yourself kind of guy. I don’t take directions very well and like making my own mistakes. Thus, what propelled me into affiliate marketing has also led me to some interesting discoveries. For the past two years I have been very interested in brewing my own “beverages”. Kombucha is a type of sweetened tea that contains both alcohol and caffeine. Similar to a vodka-redbull, this drink will give you a mild feeling of AWESOME. This recipe combines my favorite things; caffeine, alcohol, sweet tea, and home brewing. To start off read about how to make Kombucha. If you decide you want to make your own, your going to need your own “mother colony”. For my fellow Americans, your going to want to get your starter kit from here for $25. If you are fortunate enough to be in Australia you can get one a Kombucha culture from here for just a bit cheaper.

Well everyone, I am back from my wonderful vacation time up in Michigan and it’s time to get back to work here in San Antonio. I have some interesting new projects that you will be hearing about and a new way to make money by next week. I absolutely love Baldizzle and want to publish some more interesting content. Since I was little I was always into some weirder things (not bad weird, just different) and in that spirit I bring you Time Wasting Wednesday, where I talk about and provide links to waste some of your time on different bizarre things you probably have never heard anything about. To start this series off, I bring you…

Polyphasic Sleep

Source: Dusty Allen Smith

Back in 2005 I had a brief experiment where I tried to sleep a whole lot less. I read about the Uberman sleep cycle and how it was possible to nap for 30 minutes every 4 hours and sustain a healthy lifestyle. Back when Baldizzle was a lot more personal I kept a journal of the two-weeks I became a vegetarian and polyphasic sleeper. Finally making it through the “hell” of the first 2 weeks and after feeling a lot more rested, I decided to try eating some steak. Well, I slept for the next 14 hours and decided never to try it again. To try it for yourself, here are the best resources I have gathered:

Find out exactly what it is. Wikipedia.

Learn a little more. Lifehack.

An example of how it works. Kuro5hin.

My favorite resource and inspiration. Steve Pavlina.

The goal of time wasting Wednesdays is to peak your interest and let you go off and waste some time on your own. If you found this interesting at all, drop a comment, or if you didn’t… send me some hate mail.

The Basics

We’re going to make money right now. I’m sick of you being poor, your sick of being poor, let’s make things better. Here’s what your going to need before we start up:

Facebook account, if you don’t have one by now lets get on the bandwagon

Copeac account (Verla is my AM, she’s a babe)

Credit card or debit card

Mailing address

Domain name

Hosting account

Once you have gathered up all your supplies lets get going:

Make a folder on your desktop called “Dating Ad” - I believe it’s important to stay organized and if you can keep everything for ads in seperate folders, you will never have one of those “wait, where did I put that” moments again.

Login to Copeac and find a dating ad offer, personally, I like True.com because it is pretty good for me on conversions, but definitely trial and error is how to play this game. Take the link and copy and paste it into a notepad file which you should place in your folder.

Now find a picture of a decent - rediculously good looking girl. I used a picture of an ex, but you might want to try scanning your Facebook friends (kinda shady) or look through some free stock photos, now save it in your folder

Now lets put together our landing page, start a new file in notepad/textedit and copy and paste the following in:

<html>
<head>
<title>TITLE OF OFFER</title>
<meta http-equiv=”refresh” content=”2;URL=AFFILIATE LINK GOES HERE”>
<script>
url=’AFFILIATE LINK GOES HERE AGAIN’;
if(document.images) { top.location.replace(url); }
else { top.location.href=url; }
<body>
<!!– INSERT GOOGLE ANALYTICS CODE HERE –!!>
</body>
</html>

Save that sucker as index.html and put it in our folder.

Upload it to your hosting account and make sure your domain name is set to forward to the landing page we just made.

After your new website/forwarding page works, login to Facebook and its time to start the fun… click on the bottom where it says Advertisers, now go through signing up and typing in information until you can create an ad.

Think of a clever title, some text, and make sure you include somewhere in the description the name of the site your forwarding to. Mess around with keywords until you think you have a good demographic set.

Facebook hates approving ads, I believe out of the 100-150 I have submitted only 4 have been approved, evar. I refuse to believe I am the one at fault here. However, after your approved set your CPC to .15 cents and play around with your bid until you start getting impressions. Now you are getting traffic to your redirect and life is good.

Monitor your CTR and create new ads with minor tweaks and improvements to the copy (bb_wolfe). Now, just sit back, relax, and watch the money flow in through your Copeac stats page.

Advanced

I left a lot of things out in the brief tutorial, especially proper tracking. Nickycakes is the one who turned me on to Facebook ads and he has written a lot of good articles about it. Check them out in order to learn more.
